Our take

Kill Code is a low-budget cyberpunk thriller about the ONYX Program, which straps smart watches on convicts and forces them into lethal combat for freedom. It carries no official U.S. rating. Reviews flag frequent graphic shootings, dystopian cruelty, and strong profanity. Critics widely panned the film for confusing storytelling and heavy AI-generated visuals. Treat it as mature-only action sci-fi with a high body count and little clarity for younger viewers, not as a polished teen dystopia like mainstream franchises

Uplifting themes

Rebelling against a corrupt corporation is the stated theme, but the story mostly delivers action chaos Hero Elera fights the system, yet the cast largely resolves problems through violence

Story (may spoil tone)

North America has been divided into four main quadrants. A power-hungry corporation has taken over the conventional prison system and made criminals the new law enforcers. The owner of that corporation, nanoscientist Eion Prescott, created a nano-virus called Onyx. Which is distributed through deadly watches to criminals. First, infecting them. Then, forcing them into eliminating each other for freedom. Who can topple the corporation's entire system from within?

Talk after watching

  • The criminals must kill each other to earn freedom — what does that say about justice versus entertainment?
  • A corporation controls people through technology on their wrists. What real-world privacy questions does that raise?
  • Critics say the plot is hard to follow. When does sci-fi world-building help versus confuse?
  • Almost every character solves problems with violence. Can a movie critique corrupt systems while showing only fighting?
  • The film uses a lot of AI-generated effects. How does that change the way action feels on screen?
