Our take

Jason Statham's R-rated cargo-ship actioner follows a framed bodyguard slaughtering human-trafficking mercenaries to avenge his murdered boss. Graphic violence, trafficking of refugees including children, and strong language make this strictly for mature action fans.

Uplifting themes

Anti-trafficking rescue provides moral justification for the bloodshed, but critics frame the film as generic revenge fare with little deeper uplift Reed fights traffickers but solves problems through mass killing. Angie joins the slaughter without nuance

Story (may spoil tone)

After witnessing his billionaire boss' murder and being framed for the crime, Cole Reed boards a cargo ship on a one-man crusade to avenge his boss' death only to discover an international conspiracy.
