The Phoenician Scheme

Movie 2025 102 min M Comedy, Adventure, Crime
AMU 13+ * Quality ★★★★☆

Our take

The Phoenician Scheme is a quirky espionage comedy with Anderson's usual deadpan tone. It is rated PG-13 for violent content, bloody images, some sexual material, nude images, and smoking throughout. Violence is stylized rather than splatter-heavy, but assassinations and poisonings recur

Uplifting themes

Loyalty and reconciliation themes sit beside ruthless business choices

Story (may spoil tone)

Wealthy businessman Zsa-zsa Korda appoints his only daughter, a nun, as sole heir to his estate. As Korda embarks on a new enterprise, they soon become the target of scheming tycoons, foreign terrorists, and determined assassins.

Talk after watching

  • A father and nun daughter navigate trust and empire building. How do families repair estrangement?
  • Wealth and power attract dangerous schemes. What makes ambition ethical?
  • The film shows nudity in paintings and books. How is art nudity different from real-life exposure?
