The Last House

Movie 2026 110 min M Horror, Science Fiction, Thriller
AMU 14+ * Quality ★★★☆☆

Our take

The Last House is a PG-13 survival thriller about a family trapped at home while strange rain and sea creatures wait outside. Expect long dread, hunger, creature attacks, and a very hard pet-loss beat. Mild language, one marijuana joint, and married kisses with sex-toy talk, but no nudity. Family teamwork is the heart, though sensitive tweens may struggle with the pet and the monsters

Uplifting themes

Family teamwork, chores, listening to the kids, and choosing mercy when it matters Both parents work hard to keep the kids alive. Each person helps, though dad's need for control is part of the story You could talk about lockdown and looking after the planet. It is still a creature thriller

Story (may spoil tone)

A family suddenly sealed inside their home must work together to survive against dwindling resources and the ominous threat keeping them trapped.

Talk after watching

  • The family is stuck at home for a long time. What would be hardest for you?
  • When does a parent who wants to protect everyone become too controlling?
  • The pet story is heavy. How did it sit with you?
  • The kids and adults do not see the danger the same way. Whose view did you trust?
  • When is fighting back the wrong choice, and when does mercy help?
