Dune: Part Three

Movie 2026 140 min Not Rated Science Fiction, Adventure
AMU 13+ * Quality ★★★★☆

Our take

Dune: Part Three is not yet released (Dec 18, 2026). Denis Villeneuve's trilogy finale adapts Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah, set 17 years after Paul Atreides became Emperor. Trailers and official synopses promise interstellar jihad consequences, assassination plots, Chani's fertility struggle, and Paul confronting the cost of absolute power. Prior Dune films were PG-13 with desert warfare, knife combat, and intense themes. Expect similar scale plus childbirth tragedy and blindness from the source novel. Guidance may shift after release

Uplifting themes

Anti-hero-worship themes about cost of absolute power Chani challenges Paul's messiah path in prior films Introduces Herbert's political sci-fi themes for teen readers

Story (may spoil tone)

Emperor Paul Atreides faces the fallout from his ascent to power as political plots and a galaxy-wide holy war endanger the future only he can see.

Talk after watching

  • Paul was celebrated as a savior but now rules as Emperor. What happens when heroes gain too much power?
  • Chani resists Paul's messiah path in earlier films. How should followers question leaders?
  • Herbert wrote Messiah to warn about blind worship. Why do sequels sometimes darken the hero's story?
